Thank you, Ms. Jane!
It has been a year of change, reflection and transitions for many at our school. This June marked the ending of Ms. Jane's time in the Firefly Garden classroom. As one of our beloved kindergarten teachers, Ms. Jane's history with Tamarack is tied to the formation of the school and we are so grateful for her time, dedication, and love she has shared with our community over the years. Her classroom assistant and colleague Ms. Michelle offers this look back:
Jane has had a strong connection to Waldorf education for some time, and she has been a part of Tamarack from the beginning, when our school was housed at the Sacred Heart school site in the Story Hill neighborhood. All of her six children (Jennifer, Ian, Irene, Gustaf, Elinore, and Carl) attended Tamarack, with some beginning their Waldorf education at other area Waldorf schools before the opening of Tamarack in 1996. Jane also has strong ties with other children who were students here.
Ms. Jane has been a teacher at a local Lifeways, a Waldorf inspired daycare, and she became a teacher at Tamarack in the Firefly Garden in 2014. I have worked with her in the Firefly Garden for three school years. I will always remember her never-failing smiles and laughter and good cheer. Jane said those attributes sometimes got her into trouble, but they also created a warm and jolly atmosphere for the children in her care. Care...for children, animals, and the world around her... is one of Jane’s most defining qualities. The children, families, and staff she has worked with will forever be in her caring thoughts and memories.
Ms. Jane will be teaching at Lifeways again, and she has plans to open her own Lifeways center. She will also continue to have a connection to Tamarack through her granddaughter, who is a student here, and through her connection to Anthroposophy and to Waldorf Education. As an everyday presence, however, she will be deeply missed.
Good wishes and blessings for your future plans, Ms. Jane.
