Tamarack Waldorf School has been in its current location on Milwaukee’s vibrant East Side since 2001. It is situated within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River, Lake Michigan, parks, playgrounds, and museums. Now in our 25th year, Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member school of AWSNA and WECAN, encompassing early childhood through Grade 8, with an enrollment of more than 240 students. Physical Education/Movement Teacher
Tamarack Waldorf School is actively seeking candidates for the role of Grade School Physical Education/Movement Teacher. This is a part-time role working with students in grades first through eighth. The ideal candidate has three years’ experience teaching Physical Education and/or Movement and demonstrates an ability to teach in a lively manner. Experience working in a diverse community and classroom setting will be vital to success.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. Waldorf teaching certification and previous Waldorf School teaching experience are highly valued.
The position of Physical Education/Movement Teacher receives a part-time wage of $33.75/hr. A complete job description will be provided during the interview process. Second Grade Classroom Assistant
Tamarack Waldorf School is currently seeking an engaging and compassionate part-time Assistant for the remainder of the 2025 school year in our 2nd grade. We are looking for someone who can work effectively as part of a team and independently and understands best practices in education support. This part-time position involves supporting the lead class teacher and specialty teachers during lessons and supervising children during recess time. The qualified candidate must have a love for the work and play of children and demonstrate care and patience. Our teachers are trained in many disciplines with a focus on healthy child development. They are innovative and professional and will guide their assistants through a deeper understanding of the curriculum.
Tamarack faculty and students are fortunate the school is within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. Candidates must have a love for outdoors and a passion for exploration of the neighborhood. Assistants may be required to walk one to two miles or more in a day, in all weather, and on varied terrain. Bachelor's degree is preferred. First Grade Class Teacher
Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking a full-time First Grade Class Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking applicants committed to teaching with enthusiasm and warmth, demonstrating effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. This candidate should also have an interest and desire to work in collaboration with colleagues and within the guiding principles of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred. Candidates enrolled in Waldorf teacher training will be considered but will be expected to complete a Waldorf certification program.
Our classrooms are culturally and socioeconomically diverse and our top candidate must prioritize their curriculum development to work with diversity, equity, and inclusion. A full-time salaried faculty member is entitled to benefits such as health, vision, and dental insurance as well as professional development opportunities, and tuition reduction. The position offers 10 PTO days, additional paid time off around holidays and breaks and our 1st-grade teacher will have an all-day assistant, in-house mentor as well as an outside mentor.
Our Lower Grades curriculum includes world language, handwork, art, music, physical education/movement, and environmental education. Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking an experienced Environmental Education Teacher (Grades 1-4) for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking applicants who are committed to teaching with enthusiasm and warmth who can demonstrate effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. This candidate should also have an interest and desire to work in collaboration with colleagues and with the foundations of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with environmental education instruction experience. Our Environmental Education Teacher is responsible for the highest quality of education, coherence and continuity of class lessons and school procedures pertaining to the children in their care. The Environmental Education position is considered part-time with an hourly rate of $37.50

Handwork Assistant
Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking a part-time Lower Grades Applied Arts Assistant for the 2025-2026 school year. The qualified candidate must have a love for the work of children and demonstrate care and patience. Handwork skills such as knitting, crocheting, and counted cross stitch are helpful for your success in this position. The ability to work in collaboration with the lead teacher and aid in classroom management are also highly valued skills.
The lead teacher and their assistant will work collaboratively with a focus on healthy child development. Our teachers are innovative, professional, and will guide their assistant through a deeper understanding of the curriculum. This position requires a bachelor’s degree and is considered part-time with an hourly rate of $18.

Fund Development Specialist

Tamarack Waldorf School is welcoming applications for a creative and dynamic fundraising professional, one who is highly collaborative, but self-driven, and keeps children at the center.
The Fund Development Coordinator supports Tamarack Waldorf School by coordinating fundraising and friend-raising efforts that engage and enliven the school community, support its budget, and help carry out its mission. They will promote positive relationships both within the school community and the community at large in ways that inspire people to become involved and support the financial and general well-being of the school. Joining a supportive administrative team, dynamic faculty, and dedicated board, they will work to bring Tamarack into an exciting new phase of growth and transformation.
Responsibilities include:
Create and implement the school’s current and future plans to engage the community in the economic realm of the school, working with parents, alumni, the Board of Trustees, and administration.
Cultivate relationships with donors, grandparents, alumni, and parent volunteers to conduct the Annual Appeal Campaign and annual fundraising events.
Encourage and facilitate activities that build positive relationships with parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends from the greater community so that gifts of work, wealth and wisdom are welcomed and integrated into the school’s achievement of its plans.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Outreach Committees to ensure a strong, positive image of the school in the greater community.
A Bachelor’s degree and experience in community-oriented fundraising is desired. Experience in major gifts development, capital asks, event management, annual campaigns, and current development software are strongly preferred. An enthusiasm for Waldorf education and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are also highly valued.
