Dear Rainbow Garden Families,
Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at Tamarack Waldorf School!
I remember the thrill and anticipation I felt as a child when each new school year approached, and I am experiencing those feelings again as I look forward to greeting your children for the first time in the Rainbow Garden.
This is an exciting time for most of us, but it can also create a bit of nervousness. The transition from the freedom of summer into the rhythm and routine of a new school year may be difficult for your child, especially if this is his or her first time in a school setting. However, we strive to create a comfortable and secure environment so this transition will occur as smoothly as possible.
Your child will be in the Rainbow Garden with me, Faith Danneil (Mrs. Faith) and the classroom assistant, Alya Butler (Mrs. Alya). Alya and I are both honored to have the opportunity to spend time with your child and become acquainted with each unique personality.
Prior to the first day of school, I will be available for home visits. This is a special time for me to get to know your child and bond in the home environment; it is by no means a look into your private life. The home visit is a low-key meeting between me, your child, and you – the parents, in the familiar comfort of home. Your child may want to introduce me to a beloved pet, show me his or her room or simply sit outside and share a glass of water. Home visits are focused around the children and allow them to see me and talk to me before the first day of school. If you would like to set up a half-hour time for me to come to your home, I will be available for home visits Tuesday, August 20th through Friday, August 30th. Please contact me at home, 414-372-5478 to set up a time. Please let me know if these days are inconvenient for you so we can schedule a different day.
Please come to a class social at Cass Park on Saturday, August 24th from 10:00-11:00am. It’s a fun way for your child to meet the other children in the Rainbow Garden away from the classroom and the school. Cass Park is located a few blocks south/west from Tamarack. It is two blocks south of Brady Street between Pleasant Street and Cass Street.
I am including a list of items needed for the first day of school, an optional wish list, a few birthday questions for your child’s birthday celebration and some other questions that you can answer on your own time. Although you may certainly choose not to answer the questions, your words can give me an insight into the life of your child and help me develop a personalized approach in the classroom that honors each unique individual. You may return the sheets to me the first week of school or during your home visit.
If you have any questions, or have changed your address or phone number recently, please contact me at 414-372-5478 (home) or 277-0009 (school). Thank you for sharing your child with us and I look forward to meeting with all of you soon!
