Tuition Assistance

It is central to the vision of Tamarack Waldorf School that Waldorf Education be available to all those who recognize its value. Our goal is to create a diverse community that includes families with a wide variety of financial capacities. For families who are not eligible for participation in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (see below), tuition assistance may be available. To be considered for tuition assistance, a family will be asked to submit an application to the Tuition Assistance Committee. The Tuition Assistance Committee will make recommendations for tuition agreements based on need.

Milwaukee Parental Choice Program

Tamarack Waldorf School participates in the Milwaukee Parental Choice (Voucher) Program. As an example of how this program works, during the 2014-15 academic year, a family residing in the city of Milwaukee would be eligible for a Choice seat if, in the case of a family of four, its 2013 adjusted gross income was less than $71,637 (300% of the Federal Poverty Line). The expected payment to the school for each High School Choice seat in 2014-2015 will be $7,856.

If your family will be participating in the Choice program, your enrollment application – along with a specific Choice form and documentation about your income – must be submitted during an Open Enrollment Period, usually the 1 – 20 of each month.  No Choice enrollment forms will be accepted outside of these Open Enrollment Periods. Tamarack Waldorf School participates in Choice Open Enrollment in March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.

If your family has already been participating in the Choice program, you continue to be eligible for a High School Choice seat and “carry that seat” into High School. A student in Tamarack Waldorf School’s eighth grade will be able to retain his or her Choice seat in the ninth grade if Choice families complete and submit the proper paperwork as long as there are open Choice seats in the class.

New and important for the High School: Any Choice family, whether new or continuing, whose Adjusted Gross Income is more than 220% of the Federal Poverty Line at the time of entering the High School will be asked, as allowed by the State of Wisconsin, to contribute tuition dollars to cover the “gap” between the Choice voucher amount ($7,856 in 2014-2015) and the full price of tuition ($9,950 in 2014-2015). In light of this, continuing Choice participants will be asked to submit income documentation (2013 federal tax forms) at the time of Choice re-enrollment, so that a family’s ability to contribute to this tuition “gap” can be reviewed.
