The school year has zipped by so far and the class has just finished their introduction to fractions. The class has really come together and is working with focus and skill. It is exciting to see them explore new ideas and grow.
I wanted to take this time to share with you that I have shifted some of the block from the rotation that I posted earlier. We moved our Zoology/Human and Animal studies block to after the winter break and we are hard at work on a language arts block focusing on Norse myths. This will propel us into our class play block in December. There will be a performance during the day on December 19th at 9:00 a.m. and a night performance on December 20th at 6:00pm.
Language Arts- The Norse Myths:
Students will hear the stories of the Norse sagas with a stress on their strength and boldness. Throughout the year the students will hear and read stories of heroes. The hero emerges as someone to look up to, emulate, and respect. The human qualities – the emotions, the struggles, and the confrontations excite and engage the fourth grade student. We will be building our spelling skills as well as our independent writing capacities during this block. We will also be creatively exploring alliteration and more concentrated speech work in preparation for our play block.
Thank you always for your support,
